Mark Landers is a championship-winning boys soccer coach at Glastonbury High School in Glastonbury, CT. Landers has been a coach at Glastonbury High School for 27 years. In his 20 years as a head coach, Landers' teams have won 8 state championships and 16 league titles. He has a career record of 309-64-39. Landers, who is a 7th grade teacher at Smith Middle School in Glastonbury, has built a winning culture on and off the field at Glastonbury High School.
Before coaching, Landers worked in the Hartford Courant Sports Department. After working at the Hartford Courant, Landers became an Associate Producer at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut. During his tenure at ESPN, he worked on various sports that included NHL, NCAA Basketball, NCAA Football, Figure Skating, X-Games, Calgary Stampede, Tennis, and the NFL Draft. Landers also traveled to the 1995, '96, and '97 Stanley Cup Finals. In 1999, he worked on the World Figure Skating Championships. Landers also worked on two FIFA World Cups (1998, 2002) and Major League Soccer.
Landers who played soccer at Glastonbury High School and Eastern Connecticut State University is only the fourth head coach in the history of the school. In 1999, he took over for longtime head coach Ken Mehler. Coach Landers has built a championship-winning program in Glastonbury that emphasizes the value of lifelong learning and promotes citizenship. He has been able to build a championship soccer program that prides itself on love, unity, and family.
Coach Landers, who was recognized as Connecticut Soccer Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2015 was also a Positive Coaching Alliance Double Goal Coach Finalist in 2013.
Rob Rose is an 8th grade teacher at Smith Middle School in Glastonbury, Connecticut and a basketball coach at Glastonbury High School.
In 2013, Rose was named the Connecticut Association on Schools (CAS) Middle Level Exemplary Educator of the Year. This award recognizes outstanding educators who have had a positive impact on their school/district through involvement with students, staff, and parents in and out of the classroom as well as individuals that have demonstrated leadership in their profession.
In 2014, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts honored Rose with an RMHC “Local Hero Award”. This award is given to teachers who “have exhibited tremendous dedication to their profession and outstanding efforts in servicing their schools and communities.”
In 2018-19, Rose was awarded Glastonbury Public School’s Teacher of the Year award. In addition, Rose was selected as a State of Connecticut Teacher of the Year Semifinalist in 2019. The state award “celebrates excellence in teaching by recognizing teachers who have inspired a love for learning in their students and who have distinguished themselves in the profession.”
Rose has also been a part of the Glastonbury High School boys basketball program for almost 20 years. During this time, the basketball program has been to three state semifinals and won multiple regular season division championships. Recently, Rose was named the 2018-19 CIAC Assistant Coach of the Year.
